IEEE Extends Standard to Enable Multicast Group Management for Media Independent Handover Services. This would encourage people who are considering 802.21d as a component to realize secure group communication.
ATNoG was an active contributor for this standard, with participating authorship by Daniel Corujo and Carlos Guimarães. Also, one of the first ever publications showcasing and proving the concept behind 802.21d was also done by ATNoG, found here. .

Today, Flávio Meneses successfully defended his Master Thesis entitled "Future network challenges". In his work, he deployed Software Defined Network (SDN) mechanisms in mobile nodes, coupling them with network-controlled/assisted flow mobility management capabilities, using the OpenFlow protocol.
SDN, with its ability to decouple the control and the data planes, has thus been applied into wireless environments, with the conceived framework able to be deployed in heterogeneous scenarios.
We all congratulate Flávio for is excellent work, and wish him the best for his future endeavours.

Today, Phil Diamond (SKA Director General) and Qiming Wang (STRATCOM) from the SKA Organization will be with the SKA Portuguese Consortium in an event hosted by AICEP, and with the participation of all consortium members, FCT, and ANI, among others. The visit is intended to review the Portuguese participation and present the opportunities and benefits stemming from an early engagement in the SKA future international organization. A description of the potential areas where Portugal may be interested (strategic S&T+I roadmap mapping construction, procurement policies, strategic trade & investment within an international S&T cooperation project) will be discussed. As these plans consolidate it is of paramount importance to address several key issues and be an active participant in the definition of SKA core policies by 2015.
Among other consortia, ATNoG members are actively participating in the design of the Telescope Manager where IT leads the Local Infrastructure (LINFRA).
