Today, at the premises of Altice Labs, in Aveiro, Portugal, ATNoG is participating at the kick-off of the 5G Mobilizer (Mobilizador 5G) national project. This 10M€ project involves 10 companies, 3 entities of the national scientific system and a cluster, and will see the capacitation of the Portuguese industrial fabric with 5G-based capabilities in new or existing products. The project has a 3-year duration, and ATNoG participates in multiple aspects, ranging from hosting the project's infrastructure and evolutions in its supporting technologies (i.e., SDN, NFV and other cloud aspects), as well as Machine-to-Machine and User-to-Machine interactions, particularly critical communications and video traffic optimisations, respectively.

An LTE testbed was successfully implemented and tested in our lab at IT. It is composed by one eNB, using techniques such as Software Defined Radio, and an EPC supported by cloud-based mechanisms. A Mobile Terminal was connected to the network, able to access the Internet. This testbed is an important contribution to further the research group's activities in the area of 5G, or even beyond, additionally allowing it to deploy advanced new network mechanisms over a mobile radio network.
